Wilson’s disease clinic at the Assiut Liver Center in Egypt: a real well-established step on the way

Abstract Wilson’s disease (WD) is a rare genetic disorder of copper metabolism that results in dysfunction excretion into bile leading to its accumulation the liver, brain, cornea, and kidney. Only few epidemiological studies about WD have been carried out, with limited available data disease. The most common liver Egypt viral hepatitis, which masks other diseases, especially adults. This review describes establishment first specialized clinic Assiut Liver Center, Upper Egypt. multidisciplinary comprises stakeholders working management from different specialties, including hepatologists, pediatric neuropsychiatrists, dieticians, radiologists, pathologists, ophthalmologists. Over 2 years since launch February 2020, total 64 suspected cases were referred our center. at Center step provide an integrated service for neglected diseases like WD. Besides provided services patients, family screening program applied satisfying results.
